The Skilled Regional (Permanent) Visa Subclass 191 is a permanent residency visa for individuals who have held a Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491 or a Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 494. It provides a pathway to settle permanently in Australia for those who have lived, worked, and contributed to a designated regional area. To be eligible, applicants must fulfill the specified residence and employment conditions while holding the provisional visa. The 191 visa underscores the Australian government's commitment to addressing skill shortages in regional areas and promoting sustained growth in these communities.

It allows visa holders to enjoy the benefits of permanent residency, including access to social services and the option to apply for Australian citizenship. Successful applicants demonstrate a genuine commitment to regional communities and contribute significantly to the regional economy. The 191 visa represents an integral component of Australia's broader regional migration strategy, encouraging skilled migrants to become permanent residents and long-term contributors to regional development.
